Established in 2016, ARC Vets is an independent NZ family-owned referral practice with two state-of-the-art small animal hospitals in Auckland, ARC Central Ltd in Freemans Bay, and ARC North Ltd in Albany. We’re a 24/7 operation with an incredible team of specialists in surgery, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, oncology, dermatology, and critical care. ARC North also offers hydrotherapy services. 

We have all the equipment you would expect in a modern referral veterinary hospital including full in-house laboratory suite with Radiometer, multiparameter patient monitors, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, underwater treadmill, mechanical ventilation, on-site CT and MRI, along with dedicated cat and dog receptions, consulting rooms and wards.

Job Description

Are you an organized, proactive, experienced and compassionate leader with a passion for animal care? ARC Vets - our modern, fast-growing veterinary clinic is seeking a clever Floor Coordinator to oversee daily nursing operations and ensure our clinical floor runs smoothly, efficiently, and with exceptional patient care.

About the Role

As our Floor Coordinator, you will be the central point of communication and workflow on the clinic floor. You’ll guide and support our nursing team, keep operations running seamlessly, and help maintain a positive, collaborative environment where both pets and people feel cared for.  To succeed in this role, you will be a confident, dedicated and experienced leader of people, with the ability to have courageous conversations, and possess a clear and transparent, friendly and open leadership style.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day nursing operations across the clinic floor.
  • Coordinate workflow between veterinarians, nurses, reception, and support team members.
  • Ensure patients move efficiently through appointments, procedures, and recovery.
  • Monitor and support nursing staff performance, wellbeing, and teamwork.
  • Assist in scheduling, delegation, and prioritization of tasks.
  • Uphold clinic protocols, safety standards, and patient-handling guidelines.
  • Identify and address workflow issues, adjusting in real time as needed.
  • Maintain a high standard of client communication and service.
  • Contribute to training, onboarding, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Help support nurse rostering and leave management.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

  • Veterinary Nursing qualification and/or experience is essential. 
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and motivating teams is essential  
  • Experience in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital (nursing or leadership experience preferred).
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Clear, confident communicator—able to lead calmly in a busy environment.
  • Compassionate, supportive, and committed to excellent patient and client care.
  • Adaptable problem-solver with a positive, team-first attitude.
  • You must be a genuinely motivated and empathetic person who, by example, creates and contributes to an amazingly positive workplace culture
  • You build rapport with people easily and you enjoy leading  people
  • You are highly organised and can work autonomously as well as collaboratively with your teams. 
  • You love the challenge of supporting people through change. 
  • You are looking for the next step in advancing your career, not just a job. 
  • Practice management or business management experience advantageous 
  • Competent computer skills and user of MS Office programs and databases. 
  • Working knowledge of Ezyvet is desired
