About ARC Vets 

Established in 2016, ARC Vets is an independent NZ family-owned referral practice with two state-of-the-art small animal hospitals in Auckland, ARC Central Ltd in Freemans Bay, and ARC North Ltd in Albany. We’re a 24/7 operation with an incredible team of specialists in surgery, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, oncology, dermatology, and critical care. ARC North also offers hydrotherapy services. 

We have all the equipment you would expect in a modern referral veterinary hospital including full in-house laboratory suite with Radiometer, multiparameter patient monitors, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, underwater treadmill, mechanical ventilation, on-site CT and MRI, along with dedicated cat and dog receptions, consulting rooms and wards.

Job Description

Are you an experienced HR professional looking to make an impact in a purpose-driven, animal-loving workplace? We’re seeking a confident and capable HR Advisor to join our friendly vet clinic team in Albany, Auckland on a fixed-term contract.

About the Role
You’ll play a key role in supporting our HR systems and processes and ensuring smooth day-to-day HR operations in a busy and rewarding environment.

We are implementing a new HRIS from February 2026 and we need a clever and experienced HR Advisor who is keen to partner with the People & Culture Manager to make this transition a success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, performance, and ER support
  • Maintain and optimise HRIS platforms (ELMO & Employment Hero)
  • Assist with policy updates, documentation, and compliance
  • Support people-focused initiatives that enhance our clinic culture

Contract Details

  • Fixed term position for six months to cover a team member who is being seconded to other projects.
  • Located in Albany, Auckland
  • Competitive remuneration $85000 to $95000 gross per annum

Desired Skills and Experience

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as an HR Advisor or similar role
  • Strong working knowledge of ELMO and Employment Hero is desirable
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Thorough understanding of, and experience with, NZ employment legislation
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Sense of humour, resilience and common sense
  • Someone who enjoys working in a compassionate, collaborative workplace
  • Experience in rostering, payroll and HRIS. 

  • Detailed and high level of accuracy 

  • High integrity, caring but balanced with accomplishing tasks. 

  • Strong empathy that underpins every aspect of the approach to your role and situations.
