Established in 2016, ARC Vets is an independent NZ family-owned referral practice with two state-of-the-art small animal hospitals in Auckland, ARC Central Ltd in Freemans Bay, and ARC North Ltd in Albany. We’re a 24/7 operation with an incredible team of specialists in surgery, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, oncology, dermatology, and critical care. ARC North also offers hydrotherapy services. 

We have all the equipment you would expect in a modern referral veterinary hospital including full in-house laboratory suite with Radiometer, multiparameter patient monitors, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, underwater treadmill, mechanical ventilation, on-site CT and MRI, along with dedicated cat and dog receptions, consulting rooms and wards.

Job Description

ARC Vets is looking for a specialist in veterinary diagnostic imaging to join our practice. We are looking for a clinician to provide the highest standards of care and function as part of a cohesive, caring multidisciplinary team.  

Our ideal candidate would be a board-certified radiologist (DECVDI, DACVR or FANZCVS). 

The remuneration package for this position is competitive, commensurate with experience.  A contribution to relocation costs may be considered.  Our Specialists work 4 days per week, 10 hour shifts, usually working weekdays (limited weekend work).

Your responsibilities 

Diagnostic imaging 

  • Interpret diagnostic images of animals using various imaging technologies such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI and ultrasound 

  • Perform diagnostic imaging studies as required.  

  • Perform medical procedures to diagnose and treat animal illnesses and injuries using radiology equipment. 

  • Provide clinical consultations to referring veterinarians and pet owners regarding diagnostic imaging findings. 

  • Generate and maintain medical records and reports related to radiological findings and treatments. 

  • Collaborate with veterinary specialists and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans for animals. 

  • Stay up to date with advancements in veterinary radiology and incorporate them into practice. 

  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain licensure and certification. 

  • Supervise and train veterinary technicians and other staff members involved in radiology procedures. 

 

Co-ordinating Care 

  • Transfer of patients back into care of regular or referring veterinarian as appropriate 

  • Provision of detailed medical records to referring veterinarians in timely manner 

  • Invoicing and follow up reporting.

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications & Skills  

  • Board-certified radiologist (DECVDI, DACVR or FANZCVS). 

  • Strong clinical expertise in radiology 

  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for patient care and client education.  

  • A commitment to collaboration and teamwork. 

  • Eligibility to register as a veterinarian in New Zealand.
